Jonas Stappers
Jonas Stappers is a designer currently completing his Master's in Architecture at TU Delft, where he also earned his Bachelor's degree cum laude in 2019. Alongside his studies, he has gained practical experience through internships in both Amsterdam and Japan. Over the years, Jonas has developed a strong interest in blending toolsets across disciplines—ranging from woodworking and architecture to graphic design and sewing. His practice focuses on a process-driven, dynamic way of working, where material qualities are appreciated as they are, allowing the material to lead the way. At the core of his work lies a curiosity for the tools we use in architecture and design. In his theoretical research “Staying with the Troubled Tools?”, he explores current cartesian architectural toolset and questions the assumptions embedded in within these practices. By juxtaposing analog and digital methods—coding and sewing, modeling and joining—Jonas seeks to reframe craftsmanship as an evolving ecology of making.
